Featured Running Club of the Month, December 2008, The River City Runners Club

The River City Runners Club (RCR) in Parkersburg, West Virginia was founded in 1981 and with 450 members has grown to be the largest running club in West Virginia and the surrounding area. The RCR is a RRCA and a USATF affiliated club. We are extremely active in supporting Road Running, Race Walking, High School Track and Cross Country. The club supports over forty events each year covering The Ohio Valley on both sides of the Ohio River.

The RCR Running and Walking Series (including a kid's series) are open to all, members and non-members alike. Participants accumulate points from our area races and awards are given at the end of the year. We also host a beginner's running clinic, children's running clinic and a half marathon training clinic that culminates with the Parkersburg News and Sentinel Half Marathon--our feature running event in Parkersburg, WV.

The RCR provides USATF course certification and race management services to area events, in addition to timing services at low a cost to support the small races that make up most of the running events in our area.
