AUGUST - RUNOHIO E-NEWSLETTER
My brother, Jeff, and I were able to attend the final four
days of the U. S.
Olympic Team Track & Field Trials. This was the fourth
Olympic Trials we were
able to attend. Each time I attended the Olympic Trails I was
able to get a
media pass, which allowed me to get close to the action as
well as to attend
the press conferences with the winners after each event. It
is always a great
happening especially when you know some of the athletes who
are competing.
Check out RUNOHIO's coverage of the Olympic Team Track &
Field Trials under
Regional News. Each of the 8 days of competition is covered
in the format -

Athletics (Track & Field) is one of the most popular sports
around the World.
Its events are the oldest form of organized sports, and are
associated with
the simplest physical activities - running, throwing a stone,
surmounting an
obstacle. These activities gradually evolved into sports
events such as running,
jumping and throwing events.
During the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, Athletics (Track &
Field) events will
be staged at the Athens Olympic Stadium in the Athens Olympic
Sports Complex
(OAKA), with the exception of the Marathon, the Road Walk
events and the Shot-put
that will be held in the Ancient Olympia Stadium. Competition
will take place
over the span of 11 days from August 18 to 29 (rest day on
August 19).
In the Athens 2004 Olympic Games the Marathon will be run on
its historic course,
starting outside the Marathon stadium in the town of
Marathonas and finishing
in the Panathinaiko Stadium.
