June 2004 RUNOHIO
OHSAA State Track & Field Championships, Columbus 10K and
Columbus Arts Festival this weekend in Columbus
The first week in June is always a busy one for me. I teach
high school and we have our finals and graduation activities
this week. I also coach the distance runners at Bishop
Watterson High School and I have a girl running the 800 meters
in the OHSAA State Track & Field Championships on Saturday.
Last year, I traveled to Dayton for the State Track & Field
Championships as I had two girls in the 3200 meters. This year
will be a little easier as the State Track & Field
Championships will be in Columbus at the OSU Jesse Owens
Memorial Stadium (
http://www.ohsaa.org/sports/tf/default.asp).
Plus, on Sunday, June 6th I will be working with the Columbus
Recreation and Parks Department directing the 27th annual
Columbus 10K.
If you are in town and would like to run a great downtown
10km course I hope you will check out the Columbus 10K.
Registration and packet pick up is Wednesday-Saturday at the
FrontRunner Running Store on Lane Avenue (the store is less
than two miles from the Jesse Owens Track). You can also
register at the Columbus City Hall (90 W. Broad St) on Sunday
from 7:30-8:30. The race starts at 9:00 a.m. one block up Broad
Street at the Ohio State House. If you can't run but would like
to volunteer at the Columbus 10K email me at runohio@ee.net
If you are in Columbus this weekend you can also enjoy the
Columbus Arts Festival
http://www.gcac.org/artsfest
June 3rd - 6th along the banks of the Scioto River (one block
from registrationand the finish line for the Columbus 10K).
Good luck to all the athletes competing in this weekend's
OHSAA State Track & Field Championships!
