January 2008
RunOhio

Happy New Year!

The staff of RUNOHIO would like to wish you and your family a Happy and Safe New Year! Hopefully, you have been able to take advantage of the nice weather we have had recently to get in some good winter training. When you are making your New Year's Resolutions we hope you will consider volunteering at a local road race, if possible helping to sponsor a local race, helping a new runner to understand proper training, and helping your neighbor who might need some assistance. If we all do a few kind acts to help others nearby, I am sure 2008 will be a great year for all of us.

If you are looking for a race to run in January please check out the RUNOHIO Race calendar at: http://www.runohio.com/calendar/01-08.html If you are directing or helping with a race in 2008 please send RUNOHIO your race flyers so we may list your race in the RUNOHIO Calendar, or send - name of race, date, time, distance and contact address and phone number to: RUNOHIO, PO Box 238, Granville, OH 43023. Also, list your race on The Running Network National Calendar - http://www.rncalendar.com/creator/login.asp

I will be helping with the Arnold 5K Pump and Run and the Arnold 5K on March 2nd. The Arnold 5K Pump and Run is the largest event of its kind in the country. Registration for the event started November 1st and the limit of 700 athletes was reached on November 12th. Athletes from 26 States, Washington D.C., Canada and England have entered this eighth annual event. The race has a limit of 700 to allow for athletes to weigh in and lift before the race, which starts at 10:30am. If you would like to run the Arnold 5K (run only) registration is still open. All participants get into the Arnold Fitness Expo free after the race (a $10 value). For more information go to www.runohio.com Also, if you would like to volunteer please contact Matt McGowan - runohio@ee.net

I also plan to start working on the 31st anniversary Columbus 10K on June 8th. The race has been supported by the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department since it started as the Citizen Journal 10K 31 years ago. The race is also looking for additional sponsors to help make this event better. If you or your company would like to help sponsor this event please contact me. Matt McGowan - runohio@ee.net
