For the eleventh year in a row I have had the honor to be on the selection committee to vote for the USA Track & Field National Hall of Fame. The following Olympians and record breakers comprise the 46th National Track & Field Hall of Fame induction class:  Modern Athletes - Steve Lewis and Sandra Farmer-Patrick, Veteran Athlete - John Powell and Coach - Fred Thompson.

They make up the newest class who were inducted into the National Track & Field Hall of Fame earlier this month. Read more about these athletes in this issue of RUNOHIO.

Double world record setter and double World Championships gold medalist Dalilah Muhammad has been named the 2019 USATF Jackie Joyner-Kersee Award winner, while World and Diamond League champion and American record setter Donavan Brazier has won the 2019 USATF Jesse Owens Award.

RUNOHIO printed extra copies of this issue so each coach who attends the OATCCC Track & Field/Cross Country Clinic January 23 -25 will receive a copy.

Congratulations to all of the athletes who competed in the OHSAA Cross Country Championships - ,  photos -

I will be helping to direct the 20th annual Arnold 5K Pump and Run and the Arnold 5K on March 8th.  Registration for the Arnold 5K Pump and Run is closed but you can still register for the Arnold 5K.   The races are part of the 32nd annual Arnold Sports Festival.
As with all races we are always looking for great volunteers –  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

If you are directing a race in 2020, please send RUNOHIO your race information and/or an entry form as soon as it is available.  RUNOHIO covers primarily Ohio, but also list races from West Virginia, eastern Indiana, northern Kentucky, southern Michigan and western Pennsylvania.   If you want to reach the runners of Ohio and surrounding states, contact RUNOHIO at This email address is being protected from spambots. There is a technical problem with  and results of the 2019 RUNOHIO Grand Prix. My web guy is still working on the RUNOHIO site and I hope to have the final results after the first of the year.

Don’t forget to renew your subscription to the printed RUNOHIO in 2020. If you are not a subscriber, I hope you will become one in 2020.  March will start our 32nd year of serving the runners in Ohio and neighboring States.  With your support RUNOHIO will be able to provide you with the running news you want.

The next issue will be a mid March - mid May edition. The deadline is February 15th for calendar information.  For advertising and race results the deadline is February 25th.

As another year ends and a New Year begins, one can always look back on numerous positive happenings as well as sad ones we experienced. I am sure we all know people who had a challenging 2019 either with a health issue or work situation. If you know someone having a rough time, maybe you can do something to make their life better.

When you are making your New Year’ Resolutions, I hope you will consider volunteering at a local road race. If possible, help to sponsor a local race or help a new runner understand proper training and your neighbor who might need some assistance. If we all do a few kind acts to help others who are nearby, I am sure 2020 will be a Great Year!

The staff of RUNOHIO wishes you and your family a Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year!  Hopefully, this winter you will be able to continue your running.
