The Toledo Roadrunners Club announced the addition of two major sponsors for the 36th annual running event Tuesday. The event’s title sponsor will be Medical Mutual and the half marathon sponsor Owens Corning.   The 2012 Medical Mutual Glass City Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 22, 2012.  A percentage of proceeds will benefit our non-profit partner, the Great Lakes Collaborative for Autism.

A tale of two track meets. Less than ten minutes after Bernard Lagat made Galen Rupp's 5,000 meter American Record a memory, Galen Rupp took Bernard Lagat's American Record (8:10.07) in the two mile! Running well, Galen Rupp clipped just under two seconds off the American AR, with his fine 8:09.72!Galen ran the record at the USATF Classic, in Fayetteville, Arkansason February 11, 2012.

We are trying very hard to prepare for the potential traffic congestion into the downtown due to the recent ongoing construction project.

We are asking for you to forward the attached map and information out to your athletes, committees and volunteers making them aware in order to plan ahead. If we can let everyone know that the construction project is happening and recommend that they add extra travel time – this will help relieve any anxiety.

HOUSTON - Two of the fastest races in Olympic Marathon Trials history took place on the same day Saturday in Houston as the six men and women who will represent Team USA in London earned their way on the squad. Shalane Flanagan set an Olympic Trials record of 2:25:38 in only her second marathon, while Meb Keflezighi earned his third Olympic berth by winning the Trials in a personal best time of 2:09:08. Flanagan led a Trials record five women under 2:30 while Meb led four men under 2:10 for the first time in Trials history.

This year more than any other year the talk about going to a football bowl games has been discussed in the news and in many bars and Holiday parties.  While at the same time universities have been dropping Olympic sports.  The reasons given for dropping men’s programs range from Title IX compliance to athletic department cost cutting measures.

Kettering, OH, 11-19-11 - The Mid-East Cross Country Championships presents the best high school men & women senior runners from Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and other area states. The event provides an excellent regional forum that supports the athlete and college coaches looking for new talent. It is sponsored by the members of the Greater Dayton Track and Cross Country Officials Association and the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches. The race has been held annually since 1987.

By Matt McGowan - Much of the talk leading up to this year’s Championships was how would the new course compare to the Scioto Downs course which was used for the past twenty six year. The following is my opinion combined with comments I received from runners, coaches and media at the meet.
