The championship race was an invitation-only event that featured 30 of the top U.S. women and was held in conjunction with the Road Runner Akron Marathon.

(Akron September 27) Washington, D.C.’s Birthanu Wukaw Zeieke, Bryon Center, Michigan Joshua Koros and Arlington, Virginia’s Michael Wardian battle most of the race before Zeleke pulled away for the $2,000 overall award with his 2:23:13. Koros (2:26:29) held off Wardian (2:26:52) for runner up honors and $1,000.
