Kwambai, who also won the race in 2006, finished in 1:02:11, 22 seconds ahead of Ethiopian Tadesse Tola, who clocked in at 1:02:33.

The women’s 4 x 400 meter team went on to run the fastest time in fifteen years with their 3:18.54 to win.
